A bass-loving producer who trades in EDM, rap, and trap,
Carnage was a successful hip-hop beatmaker before he transitioned into the world of dance. Born Diamante Blackmon, the L.A.-based producer had made tracks for the likes of
A$AP Rocky and
G-Eazy while making more club-oriented music on the side. In 2012, he worked with rapper
Katie Got Bandz, who was signed to the (usually) electro imprint Fool's Gold, and by the end of the year, he'd released his trap music track "Bang!" on the label. Work with
Borgore,
Tony Junior, and a hit remix of
Martin Garrix's "Spaceman" followed, along with numerous club and festival appearances, with
Carnage the DJ labeling his music "festival trap." In 2015, he signed with the Ultra label and released his single "WDYW," which featured
A$AP Ferg,
Rich the Kid, and
Lil Uzi Vert. Full-length Papi Gordo appeared at the end of the year, and the album included guest appearances by
Rick Ross,
Ty Dolla $ign,
I Love Makonnen, and others. The year 2016 saw
Carnage deliver a selection of singles including "Mase in '97," which featured
Lil Yachty, and the psy-trance-referencing EDM banger "Psy or Die" with
Timmy Trumpet. The following year,
Carnage released the
Step Brothers EP with
G-Eazy and collaborated with
Young Thug on the
Young Martha EP. Throughout 2018, he worked with a variety of artists including
Lil Pump on "iShyne" and
Steve Aoki and Lockdown on "Plur Genocide." A year later, he and
Prinze George released the moody "Letting People Go." ~ David Jeffries
