When house music, DJ, producer, and label boss
Will Saul found himself collaborating more with other artists, he considered the music created more "album oriented" than his usual 12" work and came up with the moniker
Close to differentiate the material. Based out of London,
Saul was working in Sony’s A&R department when, in 2003, he decided to leave to launch the house music label Simple with some friends.
Ian Pooley,
Mathew Jonson,
Carl Craig, and many other house and techno artists landed on the label in production or remix form, while
Saul released numerous 12"s on the label under his proper name. With Simple being so 12"-oriented, he signed his
Close project to the Studio K7 label in 2012. The debut album,
Getting Closer, followed in 2013 and was supported by a European tour with drummer/producer
Al Tourettes joining
Close’s live band. ~ David Jeffries
