Damez was born Damién Denzel Ross Henderson on April 27, 1994 in Jackson, Mississippi. Discovering his love for music at an early age, he began writing songs and performing in front of his family as a child. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia when he was six, he began to explore his musical talents as he experienced an unfortunate series of events such as his parents' divorce and the tragic death of his brother shortly after. While in college, he released his debut EP Midnight on Cloud Nine in 2014. He soon began doing live shows and released his first full-length album, The Art of Extravagance in 2017, exactly 3 months before he graduated from college.
