Welcome! Turntablist/Scratch Artist/Producer/Open format DJ...... Jeff Garfield Was born in "Hamilton's East End" known by his stage name "DJ GEE" or “GEE” he has been mixing it down since "07-09" after being able to get his hand on some equipment. In late 09 he had been Going to "Scratchlab" in "Toronto" and learning from Toronto Legend DJ Grouch who was his instr grouch could mute all the other DJ’s in the class so that you could do your routine that you had to copy. GEE also learned from other local DJ’s and many DJ’s online. Like most Canadians GEE grew up playing Hockey and was on skates at the young age of 3 he also played other sports such as baseball lacrosse basketball and soccer he still plays hockey for fun. GEE has always had a love for music, At age 14 he got his first electric guitar and began taking guitar lessons in his neighbourhood at Pongetti’s and would play on the drums at young age. His Father is a drummer in a local band that plays around Ontario and his brother is a producer/guitarist. Living with just his Mother who he gets his inspiration from as she is a very hard worker. GEE’s parents were both born in Hamilton, his dad Hungarian and his mother Dutch and Scottish. In 96 GEE Step Father past away from cancer he also played the saxophone in a band and played with legends like “The Band” Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm as well as Ronnie Hawkins. In 2001 GEE broke his leg playing hockey at Parkdale arena playing for the Parkdale Panthers, Not having much to fall back on with his personal life GEE started to focus his time more towards his goal of becoming a successful Turntablist/Deejay/Producer/Skratch Artist. He first got really interested playing a video game on the PS3 called DJ Hero which at an actual DJ Controller with a platter and crossfader in the game were a few DJ’s one of those DJ’s was DJ Q-Bert. In late 09 he had quickly started getting his ideas and what he knows (online) and in and around his city. With the success of his first youtube channel and having made a few videos here and there he had gained 5000 subscribers and over 55,000 Channel Views before the Channel was shut down by youtube due to copyright issues. Mostly mixing Top40/Hip Hop/Old School Hip Hop/Rap/R&B/Rock/Dubstep/Drum&Bass. Gee is very adaptable to mixing all kinds of genre's along with using the turntables as an instrument learning from watching the master and late great DJ AM through just about every AM video online along with many others who have paved the way in this great art form! Gee spends countless hours online practicing/learning from the games best, His Mentor and Scratch Icon "DJ Q-BERT" who he was able to meet in his hometown. Gee has been able to work and learn from some of the biggest names to do it via Beat Junkies Institute Of Sound, Scratchlab, Qbert Skratch University youtube and Scracthlab. Gee has worked with numerous hip hop artist as well. In 2012-2013 GEE attended Recording Arts Canada a private college in down town Toronto where he would learn to produce music using the Neve, Protools with SSL and use a SSL that you had to patch before you use it. There was also classes where work was written in notes and a computer class which showed how to use various DAW. In 2014 Gee met hip hop and rap artist Tree Dogg MR ATM who reached out to him to work a mixtape/album and get some beats. Gee reached back to him and they started to release music under the labels YG Records and DJGEETV Gee has been working with Tree Dogg MR ATM ever since then and they 5 studio albums and a few mixtapes so far. Gee also is the CEO of DJGEETV a Record Label and Brand founded in 07 For as long as I can remember, Djing has been my release. It has given me a chance to escape into the worlds I created: the turntables became my confidants, the language my music. I know that some of the greatest works of music emerged out of hardships, but I also know that great musicians can grow and develop in many aspects always never can learn enough. I know that with the one-on-one attention I would receive at your college/university, I can be shaped into the DJ/Producer I’ve always wanted to become. Being raised by my Mother has taught me that the focus shouldn’t be on where you’ve been, but on where you’re going—and more importantly, where you want to go. I wanted be a successful person in my family go to college and graduate, but really I just want to be the first to truly follow my dreams. I have been fortunate enough to be apart of many youtube videos that I have created or been featured in with other artist and projects within my area and around the world. I’ll never forget my mentor, the late great DJ AM or when I met the one and only DJ Q-Bert in my hometown. "I’m a DJ.” These are words I never thought I’d be able to say, and if I am given the opportunity to study it in anyway im there. I know I can continue to prove to myself and others, that I really am a DJ. Gee Thanks His Mom/Family and All Who Support and live with the passion to follow there goals and dreams. Peace and Love.... DJ GEE
