Three-time JUNO Award nominee Don Amero is thrilled to announce the release of his new single “Music Lover”, available everywhere today via MDM Recordings Inc./Universal Music Canada. “Music Lover”, produced by Danick Dupelle (Emerson Drive, Tebey) is Amero’s first release after signing with MDM Recordings Inc. earlier this year, though he’s no stranger to the industry. An award-winning storyteller, singer, songwriter and performer, Amero has been playing live and engaging audiences for more than a decade – effortlessly connecting with fans through his messages of encouragement and positivity. Amero is also the latest addition to the fall leg of George Canyon’s “Hit After Hit” tour, hitting the road later this year with Doc Walker and newly announced CCMA Hall of Fame inductee Charlie Major.
“The release of this song begins a new chapter for me in terms of sound and lyrics,” says Amero. “It’s got a bit of a country/soul vibe that I think suits a lot of moods. My wife is a major Music Lover so this song always brings me back home.”
With the August 2018 release of his sixth studio album “Evolution”, Amero stepped into the mainstream country music world with brand new material, personally considered to be some of his strongest work to date. His five previous albums generated ten national and international awards, including one JUNO Award nomination in 2013 and two in 2016, garnering acclaim with powerful vocals, a lovable stage presence, and a soulful sound that’s been likened to a mix of Ed Sheeran and Keith Urban. Amero – a mentor and role model for the Indigenous community – brings his own brand of percussion-style guitar play and delightful approachability to every performance, and this past spring he was named a semi-finalist in the 2018 SiriusXM “Top of the Country” competition.
With uplifting beauty across seven albums, Amero creates a lasting impression, with an artistic focus in making music that he hopes will be medicine for others. Raised in the notoriously tough north end of Winnipeg, Amero faced his share of adversity growing up; overcoming the poverty, gangs, drugs, and violence that surrounded him; with an upbringing tempered by love and support that enabled him to thrive beyond those struggles and pursue his musical passions. Fans can catch him this summer at a handful of major festivals, including Big Valley Jamboree and Manitoulin Country Fest.
