With Blag Dahlia of the Dwarves sharing writing credits and bigwig Indie label Sympathy For The Record Industry putting out his record, 15 year-old guitar prodigy Earl Lee Grace seems to be some kind of last hope for the Alt Country scene. Blurry Bluegrass/rock hybrids that jitter along with a skewed sense of humor and an even more skewed sense of time feature superb playing and dry, this-kid-doesn't-sound-fifteen-vocals. Something of a novelty, but certainly too traditional to be considered true Alt Country, Earl Lee Grace fits in more with Wylie and the Wild West Show than Freakwater, which isn't a bad thing at all.
