Egil Olsen is a norwegian singer / songwriter. After the release of his first album "i am a singer/songwriter" (2007), he has done countless liveshows in Norway, China, Japan and the US, had music in movies, tv-shows and video games. He makes his own music videos and his own album artwork and has won an award for best music video, had art exhibitions and his own daily comic strip about the somewhat pathetic life as a relatively unknown superstar. His second album "nothing like the love i have for you" (2009), featuring Thom Hell and Jenny Hval, was reviewed as "a stroke of genius". Not long after, the tribute album "nothing like the love we have for you" was released on limited vinyl, featuring lovely renditions of evergreen Egil Olsen hits by norwegian artists like Robert Post, Side Brok, Thom Hell and Sondre Lerche. "keep movin - keep dreamin" (2011) was written and partly recorded in Los Angeles, featuring drummer Butch (Eels, Lucinda Williams, Rufus Wainwright etc) as well as norwegian artists EstherOrkester, Kristoffer Lo, Stig Ulv, Morten Myklebust and Robert Post. That same year he released the live album "Egil Olsen Show" with popular covers of the songs "boombastic" and "rapper's delight". The album was reviewed as "the best norwegian live album in many years". Egil Olsen toured as support for Marit Larsen on her extensive norway tour. After years of touring, a few side projects and building his own studio, he emerged with the darker, more serious album "ooo what happened" (2015) to rave reviews. âBeyond beautiful songsâ wrote one newspaper, while another stated "One of Norwayâs very best songwritersâ. One of the songs was featured in the game "Dreamfall - Chapters" where you can also find Egil Olsen doing a short live set within the game. After several shows and festivals like Oyafestivalen and Norwegian Wood + an extensive tour in China, the entire album + five bonus tracks was filmed and re-recorded, live, direct to tape, in the beautiful studio Ocean Sound Recordings for the release of the live-in-studio album and film; "Ooo This Happened (on a cold summer night at ocean sound recordings)".
