Contemporary jazz saxophonist
Eldredge Jackson was born in New Orleans, LA, where, at the age of four, he told his mother he intended to become a saxophonist after seeing Vernard Johnson play.
Jackson's father was a minister who moved the family to Tulsa, OK, when
Jackson was a child to run a non-denominational church. In Tulsa, future professional basketball star and jazz bassist
Wayman Tisdale was a childhood friend.
Jackson built up a regional following in Oklahoma and Texas before signing to JEA Records for his recording debut,
Listening Pleasure, which
Tisdale co-produced. The album was released October 7, 2008. ~ William Ruhlmann
