Edmonton, Canada native Jessica Jalbert began her musical career as a solo artist, crafting pretty chamber pop tunes and releasing a handful of singles as well as the album Brother Loyola for the Old Ugly label in 2012. She was also part of the garage rock trio Tee Tahs and was in
Renny Wilson's band Punk Explosion. When Jalbert decided that being a solo artist using her own name might lead people to think she was a folk artist -- when really she was more interested in dealing out poppy neo-psychedelia -- she adopted the name
Faith Healer. Working in close concert with
Wilson again, the duo set up in his parents' basement and played all the instruments on the first album themselves. Titled
Cosmic Troubles, the record was released by Mint Records in early spring of 2015. By the time Jalbert started working on the next album,
Wilson had become an official member of the project. The more focused, classic rock- and pop-influenced
Try ;-) was released by Mint Records in September of 2017.~ Tim Sendra
