Gabriele 'Gabry' Ponte is an Italian DJ and producer but he first came to fame as a member of the Italian record company and collaborative group Bliss Corporation under whose wing he formed the Worldbus Record label. In 1997 he teamed up with MTJ Capuano, and vocalist Claire Thomas to form the Sangwara group, releasing a number of covers including those of Roberta Flack's 'Killing Me Softly' and what proved to be the band's biggest hit, a cover of No Doubt's 'Don't Go'. Also under the Bliss Corp umbrella he joined up with popular dance group Eiffel 65 in 1998. He finally went entirely solo in 2008, and a year later he formed the Dance & Love independent record label that specialises in dance music. The first major hit to emerge from the label - produced by Ponte himself - was 'Tacata' by Tacabro musical trio. His partnership with both Bliss Corporation and Eiffel 65 was renewed in 2010. Further collaborations followed with artists including Cristian Marchi, Sergio D'Angelo, Andrea Love, and Spoonface. Then in the summer of 2012 produced 'Beat On My Drum', featuring superstar US rapper Pitbull. Ponte extended his media reach to television in 2013 as a judge on the Italian TV talent show 'Amici di Maria de Filippi'. © ©Copyright Music Story 2020
