The dominant diva of the Amazonian electropop 'tecnobrega' scene, singer and songwriter Gaby Amarantos is known for her powerful voice and exuberant live performances. Of mixed indigenous and afro-brazilian descent, she was born and raised in the impoverished Amazonian district of Jurunas, Belém.
