Gaz Newton is addicted to melodies from the 90s and indie rock. It was in 2012, when he decided to bring his own influences outside of his bands, that the project was born. Produced by friends Jérémy Rassat and David Grumel (Coming Soon, Caspian Pool), he released two EPs in 2013, The end of the day and The white EP. At the same time the project was spotted and supported by the Smac of Haute-Savoie and Gaz performed live on different occasions, under the enthusiastic eye of the critics. The sequel was released in 2019, with the darker Wu Wei, a noisy album where his indie, grunge and power pop influences thrive. A year after, Gaz decided to contact artist-producer Pamela Hute who has the same musical DNA to produce the follow-up. It was artistic love at first sight and here was born Loveheroin, produced and recorded by the Parisian during the pandemic lockdown, exchanging files by email. Those ten rock tracks sound like true classics, refined with elegance in the purest analog tradition. Bold guitars, deep snares, the Pixies are definitely not far away. From Pavement's sassy casualness on the Colorado track to the powerful rhythms of Three Minutes to the Ground, EP Loveheroin is a compendium of influences from the nineties, carried by Gaz's heady vocals and smart melodies.
