The Ontario-based band Tokyo toured the province for several years before changing their name to
Glass Tiger and signing with Capitol.
Their debut album,
The Thin Red Line, became a hit when "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" reached the top of the national charts in the summer of 1986. After 1988's Diamond Sun, drummer
Michael Hanson quit, leaving guitarist
Al Connelly, vocalist
Alan Frew, bassist
Wayne Parker, and keyboard player Sam Reid. Released in 1991, Simple Mission was
Glass Tiger's last album during their original run. They re-formed in 2003, this time with drummer Chris McNeill, and continued touring throughout the following decades. Studio album
31 appeared in 2018, and
33 followed a year later. ~ John Bush
