Named after Salman Rushdie's first novel, GRIMUS’ story began in 2007, in a garage somewhere in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania. After hearing the band, the famous novelist stated "they are better than my first novel" and invited Grimus to appear with him on his 2009 book tour. So far, the band played all relevant festivals in Romania and the last years saw them performing in countries like UK, Serbia, Hungary and Poland. In 2012 alone they took the stage at EUROSONIC (the biggest show-case festival in Europe), Rock For People Festival (The Czech Republic), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Exit Festival ( Serbia) and B’estfest (Romania) and opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hurts and Placebo in Bucharest. Their performance at EUROSONIC, in January 2013, brought them two confirmations from Arezzo Waves (Italy) and Waves Vienna (Austria) in the summer of the same year. The band began 2014 with yet another festival, this time in India (Saarang), and an opening performance for the Deep Purple show in Bucharest. GRIMUS ‘ one of a kind style, un-categorizable or similar to any other band, doubled by the lead singer’s spectacular voice, transformed them in one of the most promising bands in the live sector. The guys’ music is a blend of indie-rock rhythms, with edgy guitar riffs doubled by poetical and introspective lyrics. When talking about their style, Bogdan Mezofi, the lead singer says: “ It’s mainly about each one’s preferences; and all these preferences meet at a common point. And there, at this point, our style emerges”. The band has released two albums so far: Panikon (2008) and Egretta (2011). Their sophomore album, "Egretta" was produced and mixed by UK native Adam Whittaker and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York. The album spawned five hit singles: In Your Eyes (chosen as the lead single on the soundtrack of the movie Love Building), Started, Vanity, Face The Light and Promise, all reaching the number 1 spot in Romania's alternative chart. In March 2014, their third album, Emergence, is set for release, as the first two singles (Priveste-ma and High) have already gave a quick glimpse into what the public should expect from this new material.
