Formed in 2011 by guitarist Matt Skarajew and drummer Paul Mazziotta, both of whom were founding members of cult Aussie death metal legends
diSEMBOWELMENT, Melbourne's
Inverloch specialize in crushing, atmospheric, and unequivocally funereal doom metal. In 2010, Skarajew and Mazziotta made an announcement that they would be performing
diSEMBOWELMENT's lone 1993 studio album Transcendence Into the Peripheral in its entirety at the Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands under the moniker d.USK.. Several gigs later, they decided to rename themselves
Inverloch, and within a few months had inked a deal with Relapse Records. Now a proper band rounded out by vocalist
Ben James, guitarist Mark Cullen, and bass player Chris Jordan, they issued their debut EP, Dusk/Subside, via the label in 2012, followed by the full-length Distance Collapsed in early 2016. ~ James Christopher Monger
