As publisher of Flygirl magazine, Jai Agnish explores the intersection between indie rock and spirituality, particularly Christianity. His first musical endeavor released under his own name (he formerly recorded under the name Jags), the electro-folky Automata, released in 2000, followed a similar path. Working within the D.I.Y. aesthetic of indie rock, Agnish writes religiously informed songs devoid of "religiosity," music that is a far cry from the mainstream contemporary Christian genre.
