Jay Prezi was born and raised in Harlem, New York. He began his musical career under the name "Jay Pres" in 2012, when he released his first mixtape Living Legend. In 2018 he became officially known as "Jay Prezi." Music has always been a major piece of his life. Throughout his childhood, his father traveled the country on tour with his uncle, the legendary jazz musician Roy Ayers.
In July 2018, Jay Prezi released his debut album, John John: MCLXXV, in which he achieved incredible success as an independent artist. His first single, New York Sh!t feat. Harlem Beanz and G MiMs, was in rotation at Hot 97 and Sirius XM Shade 45 for four consecutive months, in addition to having received positive feedback from Vibe Magazine and The RapFest. The project was created as a tribute to Harlem, specifically his block of 117th and 5th, hence the use of the Roman numeral equivalent of 1175 in the title.
After a string of highly successful events, such as appearing in the New York regional campaign for Nike’s Just Do It and opening for Dave East at various tour dates, Jay Prezi released his follow up EP, blood.sweat.tears. On the EP, Prezi demonstrates qualities of success by truly putting his blood, sweat, and tears into the project. The entire body of work was mixed, mastered, and recorded by the artist. His athletic career has come back full circle, as his latest visual for "Revenge" was sponsored by Nike and filmed at Milbank, the recreational center he attended as an adolescent.
