Soul singer
Jesse Elvis developed his voice with a range of influences. Hailing from North London, he became interested in music at a young age, when he began producing and experimenting with his own music. He grew up listening to
Notorious B.I.G.,
Aaliyah,
Little Richard, and
Elvis Presley, but as he entered his teens, his musical palette extended to include the U.K. underground scene, jungle, grime, and garage.
Elvis began uploading his own mash-ups and cover versions to YouTube, and eventually came to the attention of Radio 1/1Xtra DJ
Charlie Sloth.
Sloth went on to sign the young artist to his own Grimey Limey label, and
Elvis set off on tour with acts like
Paloma Faith,
Stormzy,
Skepta, and
Plan B. In 2017 he released his debut EP Paint the Picture, which was preceded by the lead single of the same name. ~ Bekki Bemrose
