Baltimore's famous (infamous?) native son John Waters may be a world famous movie director and personality but his best gig is just being himself. Over the decades Waters has slowly seeped into mass popular culture. He's proud of making movies so heinous that even convicted felons question their worth. He's also done cameo parts in a multitude of movies and TV shows (perhaps you remember his turn as Bart's gay friend on The Simpsons). Yet Waters is at his best talking about his obsessions -- movies, crime, Patty Hearst and anything else that strikes his fancy. Like Vienna sausages and Thai masseuses, Waters has become an eccentric and beloved American institution.
