Canadian duo
K.I.D make exuberant, dance-oriented indie rock with a synthy, '80s-style new wave influence. Formed in Mississauga, Ontario in 2015,
K.I.D feature former high-school friends singer Kara Land and instrumentalist Bobby Lo. Lane and Lo began working on music in their teens, and first played open-mike nights in Toronto while developing their sound. More formalized shows followed, as did the independently released single "I Wish I Was Your Cigarette," which caught the ear of producer
Mike Crossey (
Arctic Monkeys,
Two Door Cinema Club,
the 1975). Working with
Crossey,
K.I.D released a self-titled EP in 2015. In 2017 they returned with their second
Crossey-produced EP,
Poster Child, featuring the single "Boy." ~ Matt Collar
