* En anglais uniquement

A swing-influenced clarinetist, alto and tenor saxophonist, Ken Peplowski plays nicely and pays great attention to the nuances and sound of earlier eras. His solos are well done and often quite lyrical. Peplowski began on clarinet as child, playing his debut professional gig at 10. He later had formal music studies and played both jazz and classical, appearing on radio and television as well as in local clubs in his native Cleveland. Peplowski's quartet played opposite a late '70s edition of the Tommy Dorsey orchestra led by Buddy Morrow, who offered Peplowski a spot. He toured with this band throughout America and Europe, spending nearly three years with them before departing. Peplowski settled in New York, where he worked in everything from symphony orchestras to a touring company of "Annie." He also did studio work for both films and records and worked with various groups. Peplowski did one television session and two recordings with Benny Goodman. He recorded during the '80s backing Mel Torme, Peggy Lee and Rosemary Clooney, and playing with Hank Jones, George Shearing, Dan Barrett, Scott Hamiliton and Howard Alden. He's recorded as a leader in the '80s and '90s for Concord. Peplowski has several sessions available on CD. ~ Ron Wynn and Michael G. Nastos
