Kim Jae-joong is a South Korean K-pop singer-songwriter who auditioned for music conglomorate SM Entertainment in his teens and was signed as lead singer in a band called TVXQ with Park Yoo-chun and Kim Jun-su. Following a contract dispute, they left the firm in 2009 and started a group called JYJ. They toured internationally and released singles and albums. Kim also pursued an acting career and a solo musical career with singles including 'I'll Protect You', which went to number 33 on the Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100; 'Living Like a Dream', which peaked at number 41; 'Butterfly', which reached number 34; and 'Just Another Girl', which hit number 28. His 2013 album 'WWW' sold well across Asia and he toured the region. His acting roles include appearances in Japanese television productions including 'Heaven's Postman' (2009) and 'Sunao ni Narenakute' (2010). He also appeared in South Korean productions such as 'Protect the Boss' (2011), 'Dr. Jin' (2012), 'Triangle' (2014), 'Spy' (2015) and 'Manhole' (2017). He appears in the 2012 feature film 'Jackal Is Coming'. He did his military service from 2015 to 2016 and his 2016 release 'No. X' went to number three on Billboard's World Albums chart. © ©Copyright Music Story 2020
