Cho Kyu-hyun is a K-pop singer who performs under the mononym Kyuhyun. He was discovered when he won third place in the Chin Chin song festival in 2005. Shortly afterwards he became the 13th member of the boy band Super Junior, achieving their career breakthrough with the chart-topping single 'Sorry, Sorry' in 2009. Kyuhyun also became a member of the sub-groups Super Junior-K.R.Y. and Super Junior-M. Over the next few years Kyuhyun starred in several musicals including the Korean-language versions of 'The Three Musketeers' in 2011 and 'Catch Me If You Can' in 2012. He also studied music at Kyunghee University, completing a master's degree in 2016. His dissertation focused on how to increase the popularity of K-pop in America and Europe based on its success in Japan and China. In 2014, Kyuhyun became the first member of Super Junior to debut as a solo artist with the EP 'At Gwanghwamun'. Within a day of its release the title track had reached the top of all nine of the Korean digital charts, with all the songs going on to reach the top 10. Filled with emotional piano ballads supported by drums and strings, this EP set the blueprint for Kyuhyun's future releases, including the EPs 'Fall, Once Again' (2015) and 'Waiting, Still' (2016). His debut album 'One Voice' was released in 2017, the same year that he began his mandatory military service. Kyuhyun was discharged from the military in May 2019, releasing the single 'Time With You' and the EP 'The Day We Meet Again' containing the single 'Aewol-ri'. © ©Copyright Music Story 2020
