One of America's many great Garage Rock bands in the late '60s, Chicago's Lemon Drops were an engaging pop outfit that just barely skirted mainstream popularity while dabbling in Folk-Rock and psychedelia before fading from view in '69. Upon arrival, they were a jangly, Merseybeat-inflected unit with a knack for melody and harmony (as heard on "I Live in the Springtime"). As the '60s progressed, so did their sound. Soon they were incorporating tablas, sound effects, and in-crowd lyrical references (these recordings actually never surfaced until the mid '80s). That sound failed to attract major label interest and so they disbanded, instantly relegating their legacy to Pebbles and other Garage compilations.
