Despite taking his name from Louisville's trademark baseball bat, rapper
Lil Slugg hails from the Bay Area and delivers packed bars over bouncy production that recalls the classic West Coast '90s era. The Hayward, California native developed a following online with self-posted tracks on streaming sites, later receiving a co-sign from local staple
Mozzy. After hopping onto the collaborative track "Roll Bounce" with Gwalla Boi Slim, G.O.A., and
OMB Peezy in 2017, he issued his debut, Louievill Slugga -- home to singles "22" and "Paperwork" -- and a collaborative LP with Lil Tae, Splash Bros. He continued into 2018 with a trio of efforts: the joint EP, He Raps He Sings, with DC Baby Draco; the Shit Changed album; and the #SluggLife EP. In addition to his extended works,
Slugg also issued a prolific string of singles, including the topical "RIP XXXTentacion x Free Kodak Black" and "Dangerous" with Lula. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
