An Argentine power trio that straddles the line between greasy stoner metal and anthemic alternative rock, Lujuria deliver a compelling blend of raw power, salacious grooves, and melodic hooks. Since debuting in 2007, the Buenos Aires-based rockers have gone from regional troublemakers to festival faves via a string of high-powered LPs like Hellavodka (2009), Toxikiller (2014), and Sextorsion (2018), the latter of which featured guest spots from Nick Oliveri of Queens of the Stone Age and Mondo Generator and Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal.
Formed in 2006 by vocalist/guitarist Dohko, bassist Franco Gravante, and drummer Charles Monroe, the band issued their debut album, Inocencia Perdida, independently in 2007. They toured heavily in support of the LP, and won that year's MTV "La Zona" contest, beating thousands of other Latin American bands. The band's sophomore effort, the streamlined and hard-hitting Hellavodka, was released in 2009, and in 2013 Lujuria found their greatest success to date with the Pincushion EP, which included the hit single "Feeling High" and helped to elevate the band's profile in the United States -- Cleopatra would go on to issue a U.S.-geared compilation of the group's music, Rockeando el Pavimento, in 2017. Toxikiller arrived in 2014, and was followed by an extensive U.S. tour that saw the group share the stage with Eagles of Death Metal. The two bands proved to be a perfect match, and in 2017 head Eagle Hughes and Mondo Generator frontman Oliveri appeared on the band's fourth studio long-player, Sextorsion. ~ James Christopher Monger
