Art rock experimentalism from a folk singer-songwriter viewpoint. Slanted Cabaret music, eerie carnival atmospheres, amphetamine-fueled banjo murder and straight story-songs based around tense clusters of cello and weird, homemade instruments. The best songs here sound like Gordon Gano jamming with Doo Rag, which could possibly be explained as the Violent Femmes circa Hallowed Ground -- meaning that it sounds good, but makes you feel kind of cheated in the end.
