Hailing from Utah, the self-described "daddy-daughter duo" of
Mat & Savanna Shaw first came to public attention with their cover of "The Prayer," which they shared with friends and family via online video platforms. The duet soon gathered viral momentum online, quickly landing millions of views as their harmonic voices and strong bond proved compelling to many. Bolstered by their success, the pair continued to upload covers online, racking up millions of streams with songs like "A Million Dreams," "I See the Light," and "A Whole New World." Having expanded their fan base organically, the duo released their first album,
Picture This, in October 2020. With covers including
Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" and
the Beatles' "Let It Be" -- as well as the original track "Picture This" -- the set landed at the number one spot on Billboard's Emerging Artist Chart. Later that year, they issued their first Christmas album, Merry Little Christmas, with covers of classics including "O Come, All Ye Faithful," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and "Let It Snow." In 2021,
Mat & Savanna Shaw released their third full-length effort, Stand by Me, which featured a mix of show tunes and heartfelt pop covers, as well as the original cut "Dear Fear." ~ David Crone
