Toronto-bred, UK-based artist and songwriter Melissa Bel has certainly made the most of 2020. With the release of 4 new singles, she has been building anticipation among fans for her forthcoming EP while expanding her audience as she transitions from a polished pop/soul sound into more folk-and-Americana-influenced musical territory.
Her recent single, "Sunshine", happened to sum up the vibe of 2020 despite being written in Nashville a few years earlier with Kris Bergsnes (Tim McGraw). The song was well-received by tastemakers like Fresh On the Net and Pop Matters, and was added to Amazon Music Canada's Brand New Music Playlist.

Melissa's final release for the year will be a stunning, atmospheric version of Joni Mitchell's classic "River", coming out December 3rd. The track was recorded and produced remotely between Melissa's humble home studio in West Sussex and producer Joseph Cross (Courteeners) in Manchester.
Having cowritten Avril Lavigne's recent single, 'Tell Me It's Over', the Toronto-bred, UK-based singer/songwriter is quickly becoming a sought-after songwriter for other artists and projects in addition to her own.
Since moving to the UK in 2016 Melissa has performed at The Shard, The Gherkin and Tower Bridge as well as The Hospital Club, for Ticketmaster at The Natural History Museum, and Cornbury Festival among others. She has supported artists such as Joey Landreth, Maverick Sabre and Kylie at Hampton Court Palace Festival 2019.
