Artist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Mugisho was born in Congo, but raised in Norway. When he was two the civil war separated him and his siblings from his parents. Life took some dramatic turns, and the family weren’t reunited until almost 1,5 years later as refugees in Norway. This unexpected twist didn’t faze the family of ten, and Mugisho grew up in a happy household, filled with music and love.
A bright and sporty child, the family thought Mugisho might choose to study finance or perhaps pursue a career as a footballer, but he felt that music was the only option. And the story of how the dedicated student of music ended up getting signed by a major label before graduating sounds too good to be true. Just two hours after googling “record labels in Norway” and sending a demo by email, Mugisho found himself sitting in the office of the director of A&R at Warner Music being offered a record deal. Since then Mugisho has had a blast working in studios in Norway and abroad, developing his own music as well as working creatively with other artists and producers. The feedback is singularly positive, with standing invitations to work with some pretty big names. He is described as talented, hard-working, ambitious and focused, yet relaxed, creative, fun and playful. He is confident but humble and open to input from others, realizing that having faith in yourself and your talent doesn’t rule out having faith in others. Which is why upcoming release Milano isn’t a solo effort in every way as it could easily have been. Mugisho says he really enjoyed being “just” an artist and songwriter when working with producer kid joki on what turned out to be his debut single. And he’s looking forward to finally releasing some music. Though “finally” might not be the right word considering it’s not even been a year from when he sent out his first demo to the release of Milano.
