Rapper Naeto C was born Naetochukwu Okeoma Chikwe on the 17th of December 1982 in Houston, Texas, USA. He is the fourth child in his family and has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom and Nigeria, where he was primarily raised across a number of cities. Naeto attended the prestigious Atlantic Hall International Secondary School in Lagos; this was the period he discovered Hip Hop music. Having been a young poet much earlier on, the similarities between rap music and poetry struck some interest an eventually lead to Naeto picking up rapping as a hobby.
Upon the completion of his Secondary education, Naeto’s higher learning continued outside Nigeria. He attended State University of New York and George Washington University in Washington DC. During this period, Naeto was part of a rap grouped called “World Famous Akademy” with two up and coming rappers, Ikechukwu and Uzikwendu.
After graduating, Naeto moved back to Nigeria and linked up with Storm Records along with Ikechukwu. The duo formed a joint venture arrangement with Storm to promote their music within Nigeria and all across Africa.
In 2007, Naeto’s first album “U know my p” was released through Storm Records and World Famous Akademy. The album was buoyed by blockbuster single “Ki Ni Big Deal” (eventually remixed by Maybach Music Group’s, Wale folarin) as well as other records, “Sitting on Top”, “U Know my P”, “Ringtone” and “Ashawo”. In a relative short period of time, Naeto had not only established himself on the scene as both an artist and producer, he had also won major awards within the region. The duo of Naeto C and Ikechukwu eventually separated mutually as both individuals decided to chase individual careers.
In 2011, Naeto released his second album “Super C Season”, which relicated the success of its predecessor with huge records like “10 over 10”, “5&6” and “Share My blessings” feat Asa. The single “Ten over Ten” which was released on October 1st 2010 to mark Nigeria’s independence created a huge impact on Naeto C’s career and was able to clinch awards making the “Super C Season” album a success.
In line with his musical accolades, Naeto is also known for his highly inspired and entertaining performances and global media presence. Performing at sold out arenas world wide. Naeto also opened for R Kelly the highly anticipated Thisday Music Festival in Suncity, South Africa. Naeto also performed at the 2009 Nokia Face Of Africa ad was on of the judges for the Emcee Africa’s finale in Botswana. He has hosted a music countdown television show in Kingston, Jamaica with Channel O’s Kabelo which was broadcasted on Mnet, Africa’s primary Cable television. In 2010, Naeto C was the headline performer at the 2010 Annual Harvard Business School Africa Conference. As a speaker on the entertainment panel, Naeto used this opportunity to launch his CSR platform “School is Cool”; an initiative, which aims to encourage and instill the importance of education, literacy and vocational training among young Africans, particularly males. The initiative also aims to ensure that the younger generation is better equipped to handle the various challenges of life.
In addition to his musical career and highly admirable philanthropic objectives, Naeto holds a B Sc. in Biology and is currently on course to complete a Masters degree in Energy Economics at the University of Dundee.
Based on the above mentioned achievements outlined above, it is no wonder that Naeto’s celebrity continues to grow unabated, with a massive fan base extending from various African countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Kenya, South Africa to various continents such as North America and Europe.
Asides from non album records such as “I Gentle”, “Tony Montana (Bad Pass)” featuring D’Banj, “Helele” featuring Flavour, Naeto C has began recording his third album and has released two singles of the project, "Finish Work" & "Limited Edition. He was recently a Brand Ambassador of Africa’s leading telecommunications company, Globacom and hosted the 10th Channel O Music video awards in 2013.
