A hard-charging garage punk trio based out of Seattle, Washington,
Naked Giants emerged in 2015 with a potent blend of fuzzed-out '70s power pop riffage, cavernous psych-rock, and snarling blues-punk. Inking a deal with
New West Records, the band issued their debut full-length effort,
Sluff, in 2018.
Known for their hyperkinetic live performances, the group was founded by guitarist/vocalist
Grant Mullen, bassist/vocalist
Gianni Aiello, and drummer
Henry LaVallee. They released their first single, "Easy Eating," in 2016, followed by their debut EP, R.I.P., which was issued on Miscreant Records. The EP caught the attention of
New West, which signed
Naked Giants the following year. Working with producer
Steve Fisk (
Nirvana,
the Posies), the group released their first long-player,
Sluff, in 2018, followed by a tour in support of
Will Toledo's
Car Seat Headrest, for whom they also served as backing band. The Green Fuzz EP arrived in 2019, followed by their sophomore full-length outing,
The Shadow, in 2020. Produced by
Decemberists' multi-instrumentalist
Chris Funk, the 11-track set saw the band add elements of post-punk and new wave to their sonic arsenal. ~ James Christopher Monger
