The alternative Norwegian pop duo Ontz consists of Bjarne Gustavsen and Mai Elise Solberg. Both musicians have backgrounds from different genres, such as pop, indie, rock, experimental music and jazz. The duo brings bass lines and riffs from hip hop and r & b, and combines them with catchy pop melodies and fat harmonies. Their soundscape is a bulging jungle of samples and sounds with vocals that either brings a layer of soft and elegant phrasing, or it's crisp and penetrating.
Mai Elise has been touring with "The queen of Norwegian indie" Hanne Hukkelberg for several years, and Bjarne with the much beloved pop singer Maria Mena. Ontz released their debut album "Go Marching In" in 2011. And "Ontz EP" in 2014 followed by a European and a Norwegian tour with Bernhoft, and the music video "Hit The Button".
Ontz believe that great pop music should be a little rusty, like Tom Waits, but shine like Jay Z gold tooth. Ontz makes music they feel is missing in the world.
