Pan-Pot are a German minimal techno duo associated with Mobilee Records who made their acclaimed album debut in 2007 with
Pan-O-Rama. Based in Berlin, Germany, the duo is comprised of
Tassilo Ippenberger (from Chiemsee, Bavaria) and Thomas Benedix (from Templin, Brandenburg), who met as students at the SAE Institute. They initially made a name for themselves on the Berlin techno scene by hosting a series of parties. One person they met at their parties was
Marco Resmann, a fellow SAE colleague with whom they founded
Pan-Pot and at whose studio they got their production start. Another person they met was
Anja Schneider, the co-founder of Mobilee Records. In collaboration with
Resmann,
Ippenberger and Benedix made their commercial recording debut as
Pan-Pot in 2005 with a pair of EPs,
Popy & Caste and Maffia, the former released on Mobilee Records, the latter on Einmaleins Musik. While
Pan-Pot released additional music on Einmaleins Musik, they were chiefly associated with Mobilee Records henceforth. Subsequent EP releases on the label include
Popy & Caste (2005), Obscenity (2005),
Extra (2005),
Black Lodge (2006),
What Is What (2007), and
Charly (2007). They also released the 2007 acclaimed full-length album
Pan-O-Rama, which compiled the highlights of their Mobilee Records output to date. Additional EP releases on the label followed, including The Remixes (2008) and
Confronted (2009). In addition to their production output,
Pan-Pot established themselves as talented remixers, working with
Anja Schneider,
Mathias Schaffhäuser,
Tim Xavier, and
Sweet N'Candy, among others. They also established themselves as globe-trotting DJs, touring internationally in support of their production output. ~ Jason Birchmeier
