A petite structure with an aggressive like attitude and lyrics that peer into the souls of many. Ray Moon’s personal presentation merely scratches the surface of lyrics that serve as a voice for countless lives and stories untold of both men and women alike. Born Rachel Marie Johnson on January 25th in Queens, New York, Ray Moon possessed the gift of craftily pairing metaphors, similes, and life experiences from the early age of 6. The youngest of 3 siblings, Ray Moon was raised by a single mother, her father passed away from a drug overdose when Ray was young. This tragedy set the tone for Ray Moon’s: tenacity, resilience, hard work ethic, loyalty, and drive. It was here that she truly mastered the art of captivating an audience by telling stories. Outside of her home, the harsh realities of Queens, New York served as an immense lyrical subject matter for Ray Moon, as she witnessed life’s hardships, deaths, disappointments, struggles, and possibilities. By the age of 8 Ray Moon was writing poetry for all of her school projects. She morphed this effortless ability to captivate an audience by the rhyming of her thoughts into rapping. At age 15 Ray Moon relocated to Lawrenceville, GA known as the “Nawfside”. There she built the foundation of her following. While acknowledging the Nawfside as her basis and beginnings, Ray Moon has now ventured into different business endeavors. Residing in Los Angeles, CA, Building and branding an untouched lane for female emcees, Ray Moon represents not a sex or race, but a person. She is a voice for the person that is living a life beyond its boundaries and its cards dealt. In her words, “it’s not a picture it’s a vivid dream”.
