A fittingly circular name for a band that makes trance-inducing, tribal music,
Rings formed from the ashes of
First Nation. When
Melissa Livaudais left the group, Abby Portner joined remaining members Kate Rosko and
Nina Mehta. The trio continued as
First Nation until former
Múm member Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir joined them while they were recording what was going to be their second album. Inspired by the album title Rings, the quartet made that their name as well.
Rings released their debut album of "patchworked tranced feminist compositions" in early 2008 on Paw Tracks. ~ Heather Phares
