For a long time Mette was the leader of the British blues-rock trio Warrior, and in 2000 he formed the Roy Mette Band. In 2001 he recorded A New Experience: An Acoustic Tribute to Jimi Hendrix, which consisted entirely of instrumental acoustic guitar renderings of Hendrix material.
