Born in Brooks, Alberta, Canada, on March 1, 1973,
Ryan Peake is the second guitarist for multi-platinum-selling rock act
Nickelback. Claiming
Metallica and
Megadeth as some of his earliest influences, he befriended the Kroeger brothers (
Chad and
Mike, that is) at school after his family relocated to the small Alberta farming community of Hanna. The three eventually began playing together in a covers band. In time, that band dissolved and the friends regrouped in 1996 as a post-grunge quartet named
Nickelback around original songs
Chad Kroeger had written on the side. Soon enough, constant airplay on Canadian radio stations helped
Nickelback make quite a name for itself around the country, and after scoring a deal with U.S.-based Roadrunner Records, the band really broke out on American soil with their massive 2001 hit single "How You Remind Me." ~ Corey Apar
