Sam Mangubat is a Filipino singer, songwriter, actor and internet personality. Born in 1990 in Calamba City, Laguna, he was singing from the age of two. While working as a photographer and videographer after college, Mangubat was uploading covers to YouTube, Reverbnation and Soundcloud. He haunted the edges of the Filipino music scene, directing and editing music videos for David DiMuzio, doing some writing for the boy band XLR8 and working at a karaoke company.It was his participation in 'Tawag ng Tanghalan', a reality talent show, that really launched him into the mainstream. After multiple appearances on the show through 2016 and early 2017 Mangubat made it to the Grand Finals and ultimately placed second. In the meantime, he had been making appearances elsewhere, both on his own and with the three-piece vocal group Dreamzone.In September 2017 Mangubat signed a record deal with Star Music, making his solo debut for the label with the single 'Pagka't Nariyan Ka' in January 2018.
