Slick Jones is most famous for his period as a member of Fats Waller's Rhythm.
Jones played with
Fletcher Henderson briefly in 1934 and 1936 and then toured and recorded with
Waller fairly regularly during 1936-41; he also recorded with
Gene Sedric,
Don Redman,
Lionel Hampton and
Una Mae Carlisle during the period. After leaving
Fats,
Jones worked with
Stuff Smith,
Eddie South,
Redman,
Claude Hopkins,
Hazel Scott and
