Steve Kolander's cool country voice seems to be caught between Hank Williams and Dwight Yoakam. His endearingly whiney crooning works so well with his New Traditional, post-retro Americana sound that you can't help but believe everything he sings. He even manages to inject a little of that Bakersfield Sound into his twang-coated melting pot. If you listen closely enough, you might even hear traces of Hank Cochran's collaboration in the mix.
