Northern Soul hasn't been spun in a club in a long time, save for a few "Mod" theme nights and retro bars, so hearing a real live band take to the stage and spin through an entire set of the stuff is a noteworthy thing. The Inciters are adherents to the upfront beat, blustery horns and grooving rhythm patterns set by those who created the genre in the 1960s, and they've got a knack for a Soul sound that they were probably too young to experience first-hand. Even if things get a little warbly now and again, the pulsing energy in each song makes up for it.
