After performing with such artists as
Abra Moore,
Patrice Pike, and
Billy Harvey, guitarist/singer Jon Sanchez and pedal steel guitarist John Leon founded
the Summer Wardrobe in Austin, TX, in the spring of 2003, quickly adding drummer George Duron (who had backed
John Wesley Harding and
Dumptruck), with bassist Marty Hobratschk replacing Zachary Firnhaber in December 2005. The band made its recording debut with the 38-minute, five-song EP Sometimes Late at Night, released by BMI Records in 2005. In 2006, they signed to New York-based independent label Rainbow Quartz Records after its owner saw them perform at a showcase at the South by Southwest music festival. Rainbow Quartz released their self-titled debut album on January 23, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann
