California singer/songwriter
Tim Atlas makes vibrant indie pop cross-pollinated with R&B, jazz, and sundry other influences. After competing on The Voice in 2015,
Atlas released his 2018 EP
All Talk!Born Tim Ferguson in Oakland, the San Jose-based artist grew up surrounded by music, joining marching band, jazz band, and drumline while also teaching himself guitar. After graduating with a degree in photography, he worked in recording studios as an engineer. He had an early stint in the alt-rock band April Chase before he released his solo debut EP, 2013's Lost in the Waiting. The six-song set showcased a sound similar to
John Mayer and
Ed Sheeran filtered through
Phoenix or
Borns.
In 2015,
Atlas caught a major break after he was chosen by
Gwen Stefani to join her team on the ninth season of television singing competition The Voice. Selected based on his rendition of
Ed Sheeran's "Give Me Love,"
Atlas made it to the seventh episode, where he was absorbed into
Pharrell Williams' team. Although he was eliminated in the 19th episode,
Atlas went on to release a series of singles in 2016 that featured more textured production and atmospherics, like "Compromised" and "The Other Side," all of which paved the way for his 2018 EP
All Talk! Following headlining tours in the U.S and U.K., as well as supporting dates alongside
No Vacation, the Lagoons, and Mating Ritual,
