Dallas-based faith and worship ensemble
Upperroom makes exuberant folk, pop, and rock music with a Christian focus. They first grabbed audiences' attention online in 2018 with a series of viral videos. Following a handful of EPs, they issued their full-length debut, To the One, in 2019. The collective remained prolific into the next decade with life-affirming efforts like
Love Note and
Arbor.
Formed in 2010,
Upperroom features the talents of over 100 singer/songwriters and musicians who contribute to faith and worship services in the group's original home base of Dallas, as well as their second church in Denver. Showcased are the talents of several worship leaders including
Meredith Mauldin (Dallas), and
Elyssa Smith (Denver). Initially,
Upperroom spent several years playing live and leading people in musical ministry before releasing albums, beginning with 2014's God You Are. They also began posting videos online, including a live version of
Smith's song "Surrounded (Fight My Battles)." The video went viral and eventually caught the attention of Grammy Award-winning singer
Michael W. Smith, who began performing the song and included it on one of his own live albums. The attention helped further expand
Upperroom's reach. More EPs followed, including 2018's
Moments II and 2019's
Moments: Color 003. They also released their debut full-length album, To the One, in 2019. More releases followed in 2020, including the EP
Santa Espiritu (Te Amamos) and the full-length You Hold It All Together, with Move Your Heart,
Love Note, and the instrumental LP
Arbor arriving in 2021. The live album, Marantha 1, appeared in 2022. ~ Matt Collar
