Electronic artist and producer
William Black fuses lyrical themes of love, addiction, and mental health with big progressive beats and passionate, uplifting dance melodies. Based in Los Angeles, he began releasing music in 2017 and over the next two years built a massive following on the online streaming networks prior to the 2019 release of his debut album, Pages. Following the 2020 hit "Back to U" with
Slander,
Black returned in 2021 with his sophomore album, Pieces.
An Orange County native,
Black learned to love music from his guitarist father and was later introduced to dance music by his sister. After high school, he enrolled in L.A.'s Icon Collective production school to further pursue his passion. His emotional and distinctive take on EDM struck a chord with fans thanks to early tracks like "Letting Go" featuring
Park Avenue and "I Wish" featuring
SKYLR.
Black further established himself with the 2018 EP Universe, which saw him collaborating with singers like
Nevve and
Sara Skinner. Following tours with
Illenium and
Said the Sky,
Black returned in 2019 with Pages, his full-length debut. The album featured guests like
Micah Martin,
RUNN, and Prettyheartbreak.
Black started off the next decade with one of his biggest hits yet, the 2020
Slander collaboration "Back to U." Additional singles like "Deep End," "Remedy," and "Only One I Need" appeared over the coming year in advance of his second album, Pieces. Released in late 2021, Pieces featured numerous stars of the future bass scene, including
Nurko,
Haliene, and previous collaborator
RUNN. ~ Timothy Monger
