California-based singer/songwriter
Zack Lopez emerged in the late-2000s as one half of influential alt-rock duo
Middle Class Rut. Following the breakup of their first band, the Dreamworks-signed combo
Leisure,
Lopez and drummer
Sean Stockham forged an independent career as
Middle Class Rut, delivering intense, gritty indie and alt-rock, first on their own, then through the Bright Antenna label. Known for urgent songs of social unrest like "New Low" and "Lifelong Dayshift,"
Lopez and
Stockham toured heavily and recorded frequently, releasing five EPs and two full-length albums between 2008 and 2013 when the group went on a hiatus. In 2016,
Lopez embarked on a solo career with the release of his debut album,
Bloodlines. ~ Timothy Monger
