The alter ego of singer/songwriter Dustin Burnett,
Zayde Wolf makes emotive, thickly textured alt-rock and pop. Burnett debuted
Zayde Wolf in 2016 with the album Golden Age.
Prior to launching
Zayde Wolf, the Louisville, Kentucky-bred Burnett had toured as lead singer of the alt-rock band the October. After the group broke up, he settled in Nashville, Tennessee, where he founded the drum sample company That Sound, and built a respectable studio reputation working on productions by
Colt Ford,
Steve Noonan,
Dave Barnes,
Dove Cameron, and others. In 2015, he was working on some recordings as a proof of concept but was having trouble finding a singer. Subsequently, he ended up singing on the tracks. Calling the project
Zayde Wolf (a baby name he and his wife did not use), he sent the tracks to the Los Angeles-based licensing company Lyric House, where president Jessica Cole licensed a song and requested more material. This led to the release of
Zayde Wolf's debut album, 2016's Golden Age, which caught on online, picking up hundreds of followers over various streaming platforms. In 2018, Burnett returned with his second album, Modern Alchemy, featuring the tracks "Gladiator" and "Rule the World." ~ Matt Collar
