In April 2011
Huecco released the single "Dame Vida," which soon became one of the hits of the summer thanks in no small measure to its video featuring sport celebrities such as Caroline Wozniacki, David Villa, Pau Gasol, Philip Lahm, Jorge Lorenzo, and Kun Agüero, among others.
Huecco's third solo album has the same name as the single (and of his new humanitarian organization which this record promotes), and appeared five months later. Besides the title track, one of
Huecco's trademark "rumbias" (rumba plus cumbia) with lyrics in Spanish, English, and German, the album offers a soulful, upbeat, and eclectic mixture of Latin music, rumba flamenca, ska, big band, dance, synth pop, and even a Gregorian chant section, with lyrics that champion universal understanding, hope, and peace.
Dame Vida was produced by multiple Grammy-winner
Thom Russo (
Juanes,
Maná,
Michael Jackson), and includes duets with Papillon and
Ara Malikian. ~ Mariano Prunes
