Auf Oslo beweisen Michael Wollny und seine treue Rhythmus-Gruppe (der Bassist Christian Weber und der Schlagzeuger Eric Schaefer) einmal mehr wie gut ihre solide Zusammenarbeit klingen kann. Wollny macht auf diesem, im Rainbow Studio der norwegischen Hauptstadt im September 2017 aufgenommenen Album deutlich, dass er zu den talentiertesten deutschen Jazzpianisten seiner Generation gehört. Er spielt wie gewohnt mit einem weiten Piano-Sound, der auch mal Raum für Pausen lässt. Darin lässt sich eine ehrliche, aber niemals übertriebene Romantik erkennen und ein Hang zu leiseren Tönen. Egal, ob er dabei Werke von Fauré, Debussy oder Rautavaara neuinterpretiert oder eigene Themen spielt, der bekennenden Fan von Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Esbjörn Svensson und Paul Bley bleibt dabei immerzu seinem eigenen Stil treu.
